(4956) Noymer is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 12 November 1990 by the British - Australian astronomer Robert McNaught at the Siding Spring Observatory ( IAU code was discovered 413) in Australia.

On November 4, 1991, on the occasion of his 20th birthday, the asteroid was named after the American astronomer Andrew J. Noymer (* 1971), who worked for the Minor Planet Center at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and in 1988 for several weeks the Visited Siding Spring Observatory where he discovered seven asteroids.
