(5005) bowlers is an asteroid of the main belt , of October 16, 1988 by the Japanese astronomers Seiji Ueda and Hiroshi Kaneda at the observatory in Kushiro ( IAU code was discovered 399).
The asteroid was named after the German Jesuit Ignatius Kegler (1680–1746) who worked as an imperial astronomer at the court in Beijing for 29 years .
