(5125) Okushiri is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 10 February 1989 by the Japanese astronomer Seiji Ueda and Hiroshi Kaneda at the observatory in Kushiro was discovered.

The asteroid was named on December 24, 1996 after the island of Okushiri in Hokkaidō Prefecture .
