(5284) Orsilocus is an asteroid belonging to the group of Jupiter Trojans . This describes asteroids that move around the sun on the Lagrange points on Jupiter's orbit .
(5284) Orsilocus was discovered on February 1, 1989 by the American astronomers Carolyn Jean Spellmann Shoemaker and Eugene Merle Shoemaker at the Palomar Observatory . It is assigned to the Lagrangian point L 4 .
The asteroid is named after the mythological figure of Orsilocus , one of the twin sons of Diocles , who was killed by Aeneas in the battle off Troy . The Jupiter Trojan (5285) was named Krethon after its twin brother .
