(6068) Brandenburg is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on October 10, 1990 by the German astronomers Freimut Börngen and Lutz D. Schmadel at the Thuringian state observatory in Tautenburg ( IAU code 033) in the Tautenburg Forest in Thuringia .

It was named by Freimut Börngen after the German state Brandenburg , which completely encloses the federal capital Berlin .
