(723) Hammonia is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 21 October 1911 by the Austrian astronomer Johann Palisa in Vienna was discovered.
The name of the asteroid is derived from the Latin name Hammonia for the city of Hamburg , the origin of which goes back to the Hammaburg .
