(8128) Nicomachus is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on May 6, 1967 by the Argentine astronomer Carlos Ulrrico Cesco and his American colleague Arnold R. Klemola at the Leoncito Astronomical Facility ( IAU code 829) in El Leoncito National Park in Argentina was discovered.
The asteroid was named on April 11, 1998 after the ancient philosopher , mathematician and music theorist Nicomachus of Gerasa .
