(8208) Volta is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on February 28, 1995 by the Italian astronomers Piero Sicoli and Pierangelo Ghezzi at the Osservatorio Astronomico Sormano ( IAU code 587) in Sormano .

The asteroid was named after the Italian physicist Alessandro Volta (1745-1827).
