(840) Zenobia is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 25, 1916 by the German astronomer Max Wolf in Heidelberg .
There are two assumptions about the origin of the name: On the one hand, it could refer to the Slavic goddess of the hunt, Zenobia , or Zenobia, the queen of Palmyra .
