(8524) Paoloruffini is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 2 September 1992 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory of the European Southern Observatory ( IAU code was discovered 809).

The asteroid was named on April 2, 1999 after the Italian mathematician and physician Paolo Ruffini (1765-1822).
