The 1989/90 season of the 1st Slovenská národná hokejová liga (1st SNHL for short; German: 1st Slovak National Ice Hockey League) was the 21st staging of the divided second ice hockey division in Czechoslovakia . Champion of the league was the Slovan ChZJD Bratislava , who took part in the qualification for the 1st league together with the runner-up Plastika Nitra . Since there were ultimately two climbers in the 1st league, Slávia Ekonóm Bratislava remained bottom of the table in the 1st SNHL. ZŤS Martin and Sparta Považská Bystrica were promoted from the third-class 2nd SNHL .

mode

The game mode provided for two double rounds of 22 games per team, i. H. Two home and two away games against every other participant. The total number of games per team was 44 games in the season. Then the table first and second qualified for the 1st league qualification. The relegation mode was influenced by the increase in the 1st division to 14 participants, as this allowed a maximum of two teams to be promoted.

1st league qualification

Slovan ChZJD Bratislava and Plastika Nitra took part in the qualification for the first division and made it to the first division with six and five wins respectively. In order to maintain the number of participants, two teams from the 2nd SNHL were allowed to advance to the 1st SNHL.
