Keimola 100 Mile Race 1970

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1970 Keimola 100 mile race , also known as the Finish Grand Prix, Keimola , took place on August 23 at the Keimolan Moottori Stadium and was the fourth round of the Interseries of that year.

The race

The race in Keimola brought the still young racing series to Scandinavia for the first time . The Keimolan Moottori Stadium was in Vantaa and was built by Curt Lincoln , Jochen Rindt's father-in-law . The race went over a distance of 100 miles, which corresponded to a driving time of just under an hour. Local hero Leo Kinnunen contested the race on a McLaren M12 , but had to be content with eighth place overall. At the finish he was two laps behind the winner Gijs van Lennep in a Porsche 917K .
