1969 - 1999 (also: twenty hits from thirty years ) is a best-of album by the German rock band Puhdys . It was released on March 8, 1999 on the BMG label .
content
Most of the songs on the album come from the Puhdys' previously released studio albums. There are three songs from the debut album Die Puhdys from 1974. Also three tracks were previously published on Das Buch (1984). Two titles each appeared on the albums hot like snow and shadow rider . The sound carriers Sturmvogel , Perlenfischer , The great successes , 10 wild years , New Heroes , Like an Angel and Free as a Vulture are each represented with a song. The song Hey, wir woll'n die Eisbärn see also comes from the single Bye, bye… H'arryvederci . With Queen and South , two previously unreleased tracks are also included on the album.
production
Various music producers were involved in the production of the songs selected for the compilation . Seven of the twenty songs were produced by Bernd Wendlandt in collaboration with Ingo Politz . Helmar Federowski and Karl-Heinz Ocasek also produced seven titles (three of them with Volkmar Andrä). Two productions come from André Kuntze, while Helmuth Rüssmann, Rainer Oleak and Thomas Brück are each responsible for one piece. The song Kleiner Planet was produced by Puhdys members Dieter Birr and Peter Meyer themselves.
On the album cover you can read that in addition to the previously unreleased songs (“two brand new songs”), “eight new hits” were also produced. This applies to all songs produced by Bernd Wendlandt / Ingo Politz and Rainer Oleak as well as the lifetime produced by André Kuntze - the producers were too young when these songs were first published, some of them still students, and only began at the end of the 1980s and the beginning of the 1990s to produce itself - and also the Alt wie ein Baum '99 produced by Helmuth Rüssmann and released as a single .
Cover design
The album cover shows the band members wearing black suits and hats and using various postures to form the letters of the word Puhdys . In the upper part of the cover of the title are 1969 - 1999 in dark gray and the lettering Puhdys in large red letters. At the bottom right of the picture there are various notes on the content of the album in gray. The background is completely white.
