2- (2 H -Benzotriazol-2-yl) -4,6-di- tert -butylphenol ( UV-320 ) is a chemical compound from the group of 2- (2-hydroxyphenyl) -2 H -benzotriazoles . It serves as a UV stabilizer , is based on a UV filter effect and acts as an anti - aging agent . It is also used to protect materials - especially to prevent plastic from discoloring.

Benzotriazole-based UV stabilizers are considered hazardous to water and are possibly stable and toxic ligands on the human aryl hydrocarbon receptor .

The detection of 2- (2 H -benzotriazol-2-yl) -4,6-di- tert- butylphenol in surface or waste water is possible after appropriate sample preparation using HPLC-MS techniques.
