Phenylbenzimidazolesulfonic ( international name Ensulizol ) is a UV filter , which is on the market since the 1934th Because of its low solubility, it must be neutralized with a strong base such as sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide . The Sunscreen Index as a triethanolamine salt is 8.2.

According to the German Cosmetics Ordinance, phenylbenzimidazole sulfonic acid is permitted up to a maximum concentration of 8% (calculated as acid).
