The 2nd arrondissement is a commercial center in Lyon. The main shopping street of Lyon is in this area ( Rue de la République ).

In this arrondissement is also Place Bellecour , Lyon's central square. The second largest train station in Lyon (Gare de Perrache) is also located in this area.

The real estate prices are particularly high here. The neighborhood is one of the most expensive and chic in the city, home to Lyon's bourgeoisie and home to numerous luxury boutiques and jewelry stores.
