The 6th arrondissement is one of the nine arrondissements of Lyon (city district).
The arrondissement is located in the northeast of the urban area of Lyon. It is bounded to the west by the Rhone . In the north it borders on Caluire-et-Cuire , in the east on Villeurbanne , in the south on the 3rd arrondissement , in the southwest on the 2nd and in the west on the 1st and 4th arrondissement .
history
The 6th arrondissement was formed on July 17, 1867 and was roughly the limit of today. The existence as an urban area did not begin until 1772 with the project of the city architect Jean-Antoine Morand de Jouffrey . The inflexible specification of the grid plan still determines the urban shape and makes it part of the overall picture of Lyon.

particularities
The 6th arrondissement is often referred to as the "trendiest" of Lyon. Along the wide avenues ( Boulevard des Belges , Rue Duquesne , Avenue Foch, Cours Franklin Roosevelt ) and around the squares ( Place du Maréchal Lyautey , Place d'Helvétie, Place Edgar-Quinet , Place Jules-Ferry ...) there are great houses and City villas. Those standing on the Boulevard des Belges have a clear view of the Park de la Tête d'Or .
It's also a shopping center, of course, especially around Cours Franklin Roosevelt.
