3,5-Dimethyl-1-hexyn-3-ol ( Surfynol 61 ) is a nonionic surfactant . It is used as a foam inhibitor, wetting agent and in many cleaners, e.g. B. used as a silicon wafer cleaner. Surfynol 61 is highly volatile with a volatility number of 0.44 in relation to butyl acetate .

Surfynol 61 contains a stereogenic center. The technical product is a 1: 1 mixture ( racemate ) of two stereoisomers : ( R ) -3,5-dimethyl-1-hexyn-3-ol and ( S ) -3,5-dimethyl-1-hexyn-3 -oil.
