The 31st Flak Division was a major unit of the German Air Force in World War II .
history
The 31st Flak Division was set up from the beginning of 1945 in the course of the conversion of Flak Brigades into Flak Divisions from the staff of the previous 2nd Flak Brigade . The task was air security in the Magdeburg - Bielefeld region .
From the time it was set up until his capture on April 20, 1945, Colonel and later Major General Herbert Giese was the division's commanding officer. Subsequently, until the end of the war, Colonel Herbert Röhler, formerly commander of the 1st Flak Brigade , took over command.
