occasion
After the traveling exhibition 30 Years of Playmobil - Discover the World from 2003 to 2007 was a great success with visitors, the Brandstätter Group and the Historical Museum of the Palatinate Speyer planned the exhibition 40 Years of Playmobil - An Adventure Journey through Time . According to the Speyer Seniors Magazine , the first agreements for the exhibition were made around 2005, and the first preparations began in 2011. 40 days before the start of the exhibition, 40 Playmobil toy figures were hidden in the center of Speyer. The exhibition was presented to the press on November 30, 2013 and opened to visitors from December 1, 2013. Originally the exhibition was supposed to end on June 22nd, 2014, but was extended to July 20th, 2014 and then to November 2nd, 2014 due to the high demand. From March 2015 to August 2017 the exhibition was on tour.
description
Visitor numbers
A total of 650,000 visitors to the exhibition were counted.
Exhibits
The exhibits of the 2100 m² exhibition were contributed by various sources. The large figures come from the Playmobil decoration department in Zirndorf , very old Playmobil items from the Playmobil company archive and the Roman galley and the container freight ship with harbor crane and the adventure cave from Hal Far on Malta . Other exhibits come from ten collectors and seven artists who also tinkered (customized) parts for their installations, as there were no suitable accessories from Playmobil. The mouse-making machine, which was also set up in the exhibition, has already been at similar exhibitions and events such as 30 Years of Playmobil 2003 to 2007, in Playmobil-Planet 2010 in Utrecht and Playmobil Fab. in use in the Design Museum in Lausanne 2011/2012.
