AW Peet

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

AW Peet (born Amanda Wensley Peet ) is of New Zealand nationality and holds a professorship at the University of Toronto in theoretical physics with a research focus on particle physics . As a non-binary, transgender person , Peet has a passport with no gender information and claims to be gender-neutral with the singular pronoun they .

Career

Peet is from New Zealand and received a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Physics from the University of Canterbury in 1990 . In 1994, Peet received his PhD in physics from Stanford University . From 1994 to 1997 Peet was a postdoctoral fellow at Princeton University and from 1997 to 2000 a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University of California, Santa Barbara . Since 2000, Peet has taught and researched as a “Full Professor” at the University of Toronto.

Peet is concerned with string theory and its generalizations and in particular gravitation and black holes in string theory.
