The A71 road ( English for road A71 ) is a major road in Scotland , designated in its western part as the primary route , which connects Edinburgh with Irvine on the Scottish west coast.
course
The road begins in the Scottish capital, initially runs in a west-southwest direction, crosses the motorway-like southern bypass of Edinburgh A720 road just south of the eastern beginning of the M8 motorway and then runs at some distance south of this through West Lothian . In Newmains the A73 road coming north of Cumbernauld is crossed and in Clydesdale the A72 road . The road then passes the M74 motorway at junction 8 , which leads from Glasgow to the Scottish-English border, and continues, now as the primary road, via Stonehouse , Strathaven and Galston to Kilmarnock , where the A77 road crosses . The continuation of the A71 leads as a dual carriageway in a westerly direction to Irvine on the coast.
