The ASK-Sportanlage Fischl is a football stadium in the Fischl district of the Austrian city of Klagenfurt am Wörthersee , in the federal state of Carinthia . It was the home ground of FC Kärnten and holds 3,500 spectators, 1,500 of which are seated and 2,000 are standing.

history

The sports facility of ASK Klagenfurt was expanded into a Bundesliga-compatible stadium in 2005 after the largest stadium in the city, the Wörtherseestadion , became unplayable for a long time due to the new construction work in view of the 2008 European Football Championship . FC Kärnten therefore moved to Fischl and has played its home games here since the beginning of 2006.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new stadium took place on August 11, 2005, and the opening took place on March 28, 2006 against SC Austria Lustenau with a 1-0 win in front of 1,700 spectators. A total of 1,000 covered seats plus 500 in additional grandstands, 1,000 standing places and a VIP area, press department, catering facilities and toilets were built. In the 2007/08 season, Bundesliga club SK Austria Kärnten even made two stops in Fischl, the games against SV Ried and SV Mattersburg saw 2,000 and 1,600 visitors respectively.
