ATR (Auto -teile-Ring) is the corporate umbrella for a trading cooperation for automotive spare parts and a service center for four workshop concepts . Seat ATR is Stuttgart - Hedelfingen ( Baden-Wuerttemberg ). ATR companies supply vehicle workshops and auto parts dealers with original spare parts and workshop equipment.

history

In the 1950s, several auto parts wholesalers in Germany joined forces to jointly publish a catalog for auto parts. In the mid-1960s, the first petrol station stores began selling auto accessories, competing with wholesalers who achieved high sales with accessories. Therefore, some wholesalers decided to bundle their purchasing sales. This required a common legal form - that's how ATR GmbH came into being in 1967. The founding members were the wholesalers Auto Merkur, Auto Staiger, Matthies, Stahlgruber and Wessels. ATR is the oldest trading cooperation for automotive spare parts in Germany. The founding members Johannes J. Matthies GmbH & Co KG in Hamburg and Stahlgruber GmbH in Poing are still part of ATR today.

In 1990 ATR introduced the Cartechnic own brand for workshop consumables and accessories. The range now includes more than 700 items. The ATR wholesalers also pushed the catalog community forward, which only really got going with electronic data processing . In 1992 the ATR partners presented their ATRis electronic parts information system at the Automechanika trade fair .

When the buying and selling of automotive spare parts and accessories became an increasingly cross-border business in the 1990s, ATR strived for internationalization . The first shareholders outside Germany were the parts dealers Groupe Laurent from France (1991) and Gerstenmaier from Spain (1992). With the establishment of ATR International AG in 1999, the corporate law framework for the internationally growing purchasing cooperation was created.
