Abdulchakim Isakovich Izmailov

Abdulkhakim Ismailov ( Russian Абдулхаким Исакович Исмаилов * 1. July 1916 in Chagarotar today Rajon Khasavyurt ; † 16th February 2010 in Khasavyurt, Dagestan , Russia ) was a Soviet soldier.

Izmailov, an ethnic Kumyke , joined the Red Army in 1939 . He was involved in the Battle of Stalingrad in 1942/43, as well as in the Battle of Berlin in the last days of the war. On Yevgeny Khaldei staged photos of the series on the Reichstag in Berlin, May 2, 1945 Ismailov was next to Alexei Kovalev and Leonid Goritschew one of the three Red Army soldiers in 1945 at the end of World War II on the Reichstag in Berlin in a simulated scene raised the Soviet flag. The process was attributed to the Georgian Meliton Kantaria and the Russian soldiers Michail Jegorow and Konstantin Samsonow by official Soviet authorities on instructions from Josef Stalin . When Mikhail Petrovich Minin's death in January 2008, it became known that Minin and other soldiers had already flown a Soviet flag on the evening of April 30, 1945 in the Reichstag. Other soldiers also hung more flags on the building in the two days that followed. Since these processes were not documented by photos, the hoisting by Chaldej was staged again on May 2nd.

Izmailov was honored as a Hero of the Russian Federation (Medal No. 253) only on February 19, 2006 . He was also a holder of the Order of the Red Banner (twice), the Order of the Great Patriotic War II. Class, the Order of Glory and other awards.
