Abubacarr Gaye
Abubacarr Gaye ( also Abubakarr Gaye * 26 September 1951 in Barra , † 2. December 2010 in Banjul ) was a Gambian politician and acting to his death Minister of Health and Welfare ( English Minister of Health and Social Welfare ).
Life
Gaye was taught at Maburaka High School in Sierra Leone from 1960 to 1965 . From 1967 to 1968 he trained in Russian , mathematics , physics , biology , chemistry , economics and history at the Russian University of International Friendship Patrice Lumumba in Moscow . At the same university Gaye received his doctorate in general medicine until 1973 .
Gaye started his professional career in 1974 in the Ministry of Health of Sierra Leone. In 1977 he moved to the Basse Hospital in Basse Santa Su as a medical assistant . In 1979 he switched to the Bansang Hospital in Bansang as chief physician ; he stayed there until 1981. He then worked as a self-employed , rural medical service provider until 1997 in Barra . A job at the Ahmadiyah Hospital followed until 2004. Until 2009 he was self-employed again in Barra.
On October 30, 2009, Gaye was appointed Minister of Health and Social Affairs in the Gambian cabinet by President Yahya Jammeh, succeeding Mariatou Jallow .
Gaye died in December 2010 at the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital (RVTH).
