Mariatou Jallow

Mariatou Jallow (born October 12, 1954 in Bathurst, now Banjul ) is a politician and doctor in Gambia .

Life

Jallow studied in Kumasi ( Ghana ) at the University of Science and Technology , in Kenya at the University of Nairobi and the University of Toronto . After working in the Department of State for Health & Social Welfare from February 2006 , she was appointed Medical Director of the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital (RVTH) in November 2007 to succeed Malick Njie . A year later, she was appointed Secretary of State for Health and Social Welfare by President Yahya Jammeh on November 25, 2008, and succeeded Malick Njie.

She remained in office until the end of October 2009 and was replaced by Abubacarr Gaye .

Honors

Jallow received the Order Officer (ORG) in May 2009.
