Acacia Bay is a small town on Lake Taupo in the Waikato regionon the North Island of New Zealand .

geography

The place is located in the Taupo District of the Waikato region , around four kilometers southwest of the city of Taupo on the west coast of the Tapuaeharuru Bay of Lake Taupo . Four beaches belong to the place.

population

The place has seen a significant increase in population since 1996. At the 1996 census, the town had 963 inhabitants, 1098 in 2001, 1230 in 2006 and 1425 in 2013.

Retreat center

Acacia Bay is the seat of the Tauhara Center , a retreat center that also deals with organic and biodynamic agriculture and horticulture . The organization has esoteric roots; it was founded in 1939 by Harriot Felkin , the widow of Robert William Felkin , a well-known member of the Golden Dawn and founder of the Stella Matutina order .
