The Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma (Academy of Fine Arts Rome ) is an Italian art academy .

The Accademia di Belle Arti was founded in 1593 as Accademia di San Luca in Rome with papal support from the painter and art theorist Federico Zuccari . After the completion of the Italian nation-state in 1870 , the academy was reformed and now came under state influence, it was initially renamed the Regia Accademia di Belle Arti denominata di San Luca (Royal Academy of Fine Arts) and soon thereafter operated under its current name.

With Law 508 reforming artistic training institutions of December 21, 1999, the Academy of Fine Arts was recognized as a university by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research and can therefore award the degrees of Bachelor and Master . With around 2000 students, it is one of the most important centers for further education, specialization and research in the arts in Italy and enjoys full autonomy in teaching and administration.
