The Achim-Verdener Geest is a sub-area of the Stader Geest in central and north-eastern Lower Saxony .

geography

The Achim-Verdener Geest is located in the district of Verden and in the old district of Rotenburg (Wümme) and extends north of the Weser in a west-east direction. To the north it is bounded by the Wümmeniederung , which also belongs to the Stader Geest and which here partially forms the Hellweger Moor. Historically, the area belongs to the former territory of Verden . In the far east, the Lintelner Geest (also Verdener Heide ) forms a transition from the Stader Geest to the Lüneburg Heath . The largest place there is Kirchlinteln . For reasons of tourism and infrastructure planning, some of the municipalities have joined the Mittelweser Region network or are orienting themselves towards the better-known Lüneburg Heath. The Verden dunes are located in the city of Verden .
