The Wümmeniederung is a moor , geest and forest landscape in the Elbe-Weser triangle belonging to Lower Saxony and the state of Bremen , mainly in the south of the Rotenburg district , in the northeast of the Verden district and in the north-eastern outskirts of the city of Bremen .

location

The Wümmeniederung belongs to the Stader Geest . To the southwest it borders on the Achim-Verdener Geest , which also belongs to the Stader Geest , to the southeast on the Lüneburg Heath natural area and to the north on the Zevener Geest .

The natural spatial main unit of the Wümmeniederung is part of the main unit group Stader Geest (number 63, two-digit) within the North German lowlands (large region 1st order) and is divided into sub-natural areas as follows:

Landscape image

A large number of rivers, streams and lakes are typical of the gently undulating landscape. These include the Wümme , the Wieste , the Fintau , the Rodau , the Wiedau or the Vissel , as well as the two Bull lakes .
