The Vissel (also Visselbach ) is a 12 kilometer long stream in the Lüneburg Heath . It rises in the center of Visselhövede , in one of the strongest springs in the Lower Saxony lowlands, flows first in a northerly and later in a northwest direction and flows southwest of Bothel into the Rodau . On its upper reaches, in the area of ​​the city of Visselhövede, the stream has water quality II – III (critically polluted), but later changes to quality class II (moderately polluted).
