The axillary bream ( Pagellus acarne ) is a sea fish from the family of sea ​​bream (Sparidae). The axillary sea bream reaches a maximum length of 36 centimeters and an average length of 25 centimeters. Their body is high-backed, pink in color and without vertical or horizontal stripes. Way of life

The axillary bream lives at depths of 40 to 500 meters, although it usually stays above a depth of 100 meters. It occurs over various seabeds, especially over sandy bottoms and over seagrass beds . Young fish live near the coast. The axillary bream is an omnivore that feeds primarily on worms, mollusks and small crustaceans . It is a major fishing fish . Like the sea ​​bream , it is a proterandric hermaphrodite , which means that the male genital organs mature first and then the female ones.
