geography

The city is on US Highway 87 , which runs from Lamesa to Big Spring. The highways 2002 and 2212 cross on the outskirts. The city is partly in the southeast corner of Dawson County and partly in Martin County. It has a total area of ​​0.8 km², without any significant water surface.

history

The city was founded in 1923 and was named after its founder, Paul Ackerly from Georgia . The first post office opened in 1924. A school district composed of parts of Dawson County , Borden County , Martin County, and Howard County was formed and a school was built the following year.
