action

Terry calls his best friend Julian, who is taking a nice bath. He's drunk and tells him that his attractive fiancée June is cheating on him. In order to get revenge on her, he rented room 508 in the Riverview Hotel, which is just across from June's room 507. Sick of fear for his friend, Julian jumps out of the bathtub and asks Terry for 20 minutes, since it takes him so long to get to the hotel. Terry had snuck into Julian's house a few hours earlier and stole his gun.

In various fragmentary flashbacks, however, it turns out that during Terry's call Julian was not in his but in the bathtub of June's hotel room. Julian sleeps with his best friend's girlfriend and was therefore only a few meters away from Terry during the call. To buy time, he asked Terry for 20 minutes. He then leaves the room in a panic, forgets his cell phone and visits a love affair named Anna on the third floor, whom he met in the elevator on the way to June. He asks Anna, in case of any inquiries from whoever, that she has been with him the whole time.

In the meantime June opens the door of the room full of fear and pulls a passing guest into her room, because the passage is not safe because of Terry. A short time later, Terry gains access to June's room, knocks the stranger down and cuffs him unconscious to a chair. He accidentally shoots his fiancée in a scuffle. A few minutes later, Julian enters the room and plays the horrified clueless. Terry now wants to shoot the stranger too, but Julian stops him. Both play different scenarios to get out of it. Julian takes the gun from Terry and runs back to Anna, who doesn't let him in because of his bloodied hands and instead calls the police. Terry also leaves the room and puts on a hotel uniform.

When Julian returns to the crime scene, he looks at his forgotten cell phone and sees a message. Terry had been trying to reach Julian after June's death when his cell phone rang on the bed and he left him a message. He already knew when Julian's arrival that his best friend was cheating on him.

While Julian is being arrested by the police, Terry sneaks out of the hotel unnoticed.

criticism

"Atmospherically very dense thriller chamber play, developed from the director's short film of the same name, carried by three committed actors."

“How to nested a really simply constructed thriller drama (if you find out that your girlfriend is cheating, of course wants to murder her) as laboriously as possible is demonstrated clearly and freely based on his own short film from 2005 by the directorial debutant and co-author Alex Merkin this very successful chamber play thriller for such conditions. Mike Vogel from "Cloverfield" and Brittany Murphy ("8 Mile") upgrade the ambitious low-budget genre experiment with their good names. "
