Actinium (III) oxide is an inorganic chemical compound of actinium from the group of oxides .
Extraction and presentation
Actinium (III) oxide can be obtained by reacting actinium (III) oxalate precipitated from nitric acid solution in an oxygen atmosphere at 1100 ° C.
properties
Actinium (III) oxide is a white solid. It has a trigonal crystal structure of the lanthanum oxide type with the space group P 3 m 1 (space group no. 164) and the lattice parameters a = 408 pm, c = 630 pm.
safety instructions
Classifications according to the GHS regulation are not available because they only include chemical hazard, which plays a completely subordinate role compared to the hazards based on radioactivity . The latter also only applies if the amount of substance involved is relevant.
