Adalbert Beck (born October 17, 1863 in Langendorf , Neisse district ; † February 15, 1946 in Neisse ) was a German politician (center).

Live and act

Beck was born the son of a small farmer. After training at the teachers' seminar in Ziegenhals, he worked as a primary school teacher for several years. In 1904 he became director of the cooperative bank of the Silesian Farmers' Association in Neisse. In 1919 Beck took over an estate in Oppersdorf in the Neisse district. In addition, he was the deputy rector of the Association of Silesian Rural Cooperatives.

Beck began to be politically active at the latest during the Weimar Republic : From December 1924 to November 1933 he was a member of the Reichstag for the Catholic Center Party as a member of constituency 9 (Opole). Since 1925 he was also a member of the Upper Silesian Provincial Parliament . During his time as a member of the Reichstag, Beck voted, among other things, for the Enabling Act of March 1933 introduced by the Hitler government , which formed the legal basis for the establishment of the Nazi dictatorship.
