Adalbert Ferdinand Meier (* 10. February 1926 in Amberg ) is a German Catholic church musician , who since 1960 volunteer with his organ concerts in the Basilica of the monastery Ottobeuren money for the Leprosy Relief collects. Life

Meier attended elementary school and high school in Schwenningen and Dillingen from 1928 to 1942 . In 1941 he moved to Ebenhofen and attended high school in Kaufbeuren . During this time he studied organ at the Leopold Mozart Conservatory in Augsburg with Arthur Piechler from 1941 to 1944 and attended the church music school in Regensburg from 1947 . From 1948 to 1953 he was an elementary school teacher in Baisweil . During this time he made his diploma from 1949 to 1950 at the Musikhochschule Munich. From 1953 to 1955 he was a primary school teacher in Altdorf ( Biessenhofen ) and from 1955 to 1988 a primary school teacher in Memmingen .

In 1960, Adalbert Meier was commissioned by Piechler and Abbot Vitalis to set up the weekly organ concerts in Ottobeuren Monastery for the benefit of the German Leprosy Aid. Since then, around 2.6 million euros have been raised in this context. In addition, recordings for records, MC and CD and various radio and television recordings.
