Adam Faith
Adam Faith , actually Terence Nelhams , (born June 23, 1940 in Acton , London , † March 8, 2003 in Stoke-on-Trent , England ) was a British pop singer, actor and producer .
Live and act
In 1956, Adam co-founded the skiffle group The Worried Men . In January 1958 his first single "(Got A) Heartsick Feeling" was released . More singles followed, but none of them made it into the charts. Adam Faith was one of the many British attempts to copy Elvis Presley at the time. But actually Adam Faith was more of one of the numerous Buddy Holly imitators (you only hear the certain "hiccups"), like Marty Wilde , John Leyton , Mike Berry or Eden Kane .
In 1959 he made another attempt, and this time it should work. His first two chart listings were right at the top of the English charts.
After 1966 he withdrew from the active music business. In the early 1960s, he had also worked as an actor. In 1967 he played theater, in 1971 he was the star of the television series Budgie . In 1972 he discovered the singer and songwriter Leo Sayer and became his manager. In April 1973 he produced Roger Daltrey's first solo album, which included several compositions by Leo Sayer.
In 1974 he made the film Stardust with David Essex . Faith played the role of a star manager in this film. In 1976 he went back to the theater and produced Lonnie Donegan's album "Puttin 'On The Style" in 1978 , with which he attempted a comeback . In 1979 Adam Faith played a football manager in the film Yesterday's Hero , and in 1980 he starred alongside Roger Daltrey in the film McVicar , which was based on the true story of the "escape king" John McVicar. In the 1980 film drama Jeanie's Clique , he played alongside Jodie Foster .
He made his big comeback with the hit television series Love Hurts , in which he played the leading role alongside Zoë Wanamaker . Adam Faith was also known as a financial advisor since 1991 , had his own company, sat on a board of directors and wrote a weekly column of tips for investors in the British newspaper The Mail On Sunday .
The TV series ended in 1994 despite high ratings. Other television projects were unsuccessful, and his self-established investor television channel went bankrupt shortly thereafter. He lost everything financially and professionally that he had built up in the late 1990s. Although he had heart problems in the 1980s, his sudden death from a heart attack after a concert has often been attributed to the stresses and strains of his life.
