Adam Ruins Everything is an American edutainment series by and with Adam Conover , which has been running on truTV since 2015 . It has its origins in the CollegeHumor comedy website that Conover worked for. Since September 29, 2015, a season with 26 episodes of around 25 minutes each and a special has been broadcast. On December 7, 2016, the series was extended by a second season with 16 episodes, which ended on November 7, 2017.

The series revolves around the character Adam Conover (a fictional version of the main actor), who in each episode humorously refutes several errors or assumed facts and theses that are widespread in American culture with science and logic and that The topic is "ruined" for the other characters and the audience, because it is not as harmless as is often assumed.

In Canada, the first season aired on Much since January 12, 2017 . In Australia, the series runs on SBS Viceland .

Format and background

Adam Ruins Everything is based on a CollegeHumor web series of the same name that aired on CollegeHumors YouTube channel on February 14, 2014 .

In the episodes, Conover acts as a host and refutes misconceptions and misconceptions on various topics. He often represents unpopular opinions in American society. He does this by addressing the audience directly, performing in sketches , illustrating all information with examples, interviewing experts and backing up all important facts with sources displayed on the screen. Historical figures often appear in the series, the characters travel in time or in animations and teleport to different places; special effects are often used.   • Adam Conover (played by Adam Conover ) is the main character. He teaches the other characters and the audience by "ruining" topics for them. He thinks it's always better to know the truth.

  • Haley (played by Hayley Marie Norman) is a friend of Emily's who goes out with Adam. She dies in Adam Ruins Death .
  • Rhea Conover (played by Rhea Butcher) is Adam's younger sister. She owns the house where Adam lives. It appears for the first time in Adam Ruins Football .
  • Kendra (played by Nicole Roberts) into a former prison inmate and friend of Adam and Emily. She is Adam's co-host in Adam Ruins Prison .
  • Ethel (played by Eliza Skinner)

The chemist Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim was critical of an excerpt from the 15th episode of the 2nd season "Adam Ruins Science", which is about animal experiments. The section puts scientists in a bad light because they are allegedly unaware of the limited informative value of animal experiments and are wasting money as a result. Mai contradicts this representation and criticized that sources were misrepresented or taken out of context.

  • After one of the hosts of YouTube channel The Rebel Media , Lauren Southern , challenged Conover's gender equality claim in episode 9 Adam Ruin's Summer Fun , Conover appeared on the channel some time later in a discussion to defend his claim.
