Adam Wagner (* in Wüstung Lichtenfels , today in Dornhan -Leinstetten; † 1594 in Heilbronn ) was a German sculptor.

Life

He lived in Heilbronn from 1574 and became a citizen of the city on October 28, 1577. Around 1580 he married the Heilbronn citizen daughter Agnes Zapf. In 1593 the spouses sued each other at the council. Adam was imprisoned, when he was released he had to issue a primal feud . In spring 1594 he died in Heilbronn, his widow survived him until 1603.

Act

In 1577 he was commissioned by Count Eitel Friedrich IV von Zollern to create the coat of arms and decoration of the gate between the Marstall and the Hofgarten in Hechingen (total loss). In 1581 he worked at the Heilbronn town hall and created the sculptural decorations on the outside staircase. In 1587 he created the tomb of Dietrich von und zu Gemmingen in the castle courtyard in Gemmingen . In 1591/93 he and his student Jakob Müller created the tomb of Christian Wilhelm v. Massenbach in the church of Massenbach (preserved). In 1593 he applied for work in Heidelberg. Adam Wagner was the brother of Pankraz Wagner. Adam was also known for his series of sculptors in Heilbronn and in Württemberg in Franconia .
