history
The castle, which dates from the 12th century, was probably founded by the Counts of Hohenberg .
The noble family von Lichtenfels was related to the lords of Dettingen with whom they shared the coat of arms.
The castle was destroyed for the first time during the Battle of Leinstetten in 1298. In 1423 the castle was partly owned by the Counts of Zollern . In the 15th century, Countess Henriette von Württemberg besieged the Lichtenfels. Count Friedrich von Zollern was taken prisoner. The destroyed castle was not rebuilt and abandoned in favor of Schloss Leinstetten .
At the end of the 20th century, the castle ruins are owned by the Barons von Podewils and have been thoroughly renovated.
Building description
