The castle Waseneck even Wasseneck called, is the ruins of a hilltop castle on 606 m above sea level. NN 1250 meters west of the district Altoberndorf in the town of Oberndorf am Neckar in the Rottweil district in Baden-Württemberg .
history
The castle was built by the dukes of Teck around 1220 , and expanded and expanded in 1270. In 1295 the Maier von Waseneck are mentioned as administrators and castle men until 1363. In 1363 Duke Friedrich von Teck inherited the castle, it changed hands several times, in 1416 it came to Count Eberhard IV of Württemberg, fell into disrepair and was called a ruin in 1460. In 1806 the now badly dilapidated castle came into state ownership of the Kingdom of Württemberg . 1968 to 1980 the foundation walls are exposed, restored and partly rebuilt.
Building description
Significant parts of the keep , parts of the main castle , parts of the palas - shield wall , the inner courtyard with fountain and moats have been preserved from the former castle complex . The outer moat is now used as a forest path.
