Adamite ( Hebrew אֲדָמִית Adamīt ) is a kibbutz in northern Israel's Galilee near the Lebanese border; it had 209 inhabitants in 2018.
history
Adamit was originally founded in 1958 by members of the socialist - Zionist youth organization Hashomer Hatzair . The kibbutz was abandoned in 1967 and settled again in 1971 by immigrants from Great Britain , the United States and Canada after they had prepared for it in Kibbutz Mishmar HaEmek for a year .
economy
In the past, chicken was farmed and tobacco, wine and bananas were grown, but today the residents mainly earn their living by farming and growing orchards and avocados . The kibbutz also operates a metal factory and a guest house for tourists.
