Adolf Beythien

Adolf Carl Heinrich Beythien (born January 29, 1867 in Quakenbrück , † June 6, 1949 in Dresden ) was a German food chemist and university professor.

Life

Beythien studied from 1885 to 1889 at the University of Göttingen . In 1885 he became a member of the Göttingen Wingolf .

After working in various factories, he initially worked for the Chemical Investigation Office of the city of Wroclaw . From 1899 he was director of the "Municipal Chemical Investigation Office" in Dresden for over 30 years . In 1910 he was appointed professor at what was then the TH Dresden . Since he also had "clear legal thinking", he also played a decisive role in the further development of food law in the Reich Health Council .

Beythien was the author and editor of numerous books and publications on food analysis and food science.

His son was the composer Kurt Beythien (1897–1974).
