Adolf Drescher
Adolf Drescher (born February 2, 1921 in Bitterfeld , † November 23, 1967 in Hamburg ) was a German pianist .
Life
Drescher made his debut at the age of twelve with Haydn's Piano Concerto in D major under Leo Blech in Riga , where he received further pianistic training at the local conservatory (founded in 1919). After the war he began to concert extensively and made a number of recordings for radio and record. He devoted himself not only to the classical German repertoire, but was also particularly committed to forgotten and unknown works. Drescher was in the tradition of a German-influenced pianistic line, as represented by Edwin Fischer and Wilhelm Kempff . In 1967 he died of suicide in Hamburg .
Drescher's nephew is the pianist Eckart Sellheim, who was also his student for a time.
