Adolf Freiherr Spies von Büllesheim (born June 4, 1929 at Haus Hall in Ratheim ; † February 12, 2011 in Ratheim-Neuhall) was a German lawyer , farmer and politician ( CDU ).

Adolf came from the noble family of the Spies von Büllesheim . He was born on June 4, 1929 as the second of three children of Egon Franz Freiherr Spies von Büllesheim (1900–1983) and Maria Freiin von Oer (1903–1992) at Haus Hall in Ratheim.

Since autumn 1961 he was married to Countess Maria Immaculata (née Concha) von Mirbach-Harff , baroness von Vittinghoff (1938–2002). He had six children with her. His eldest son Wilhelm-Franz died in 1978 at the age of 15. His eldest sister Sophie (1927–2013) is the widowed Princess von Hatzfeldt-Trachenberg .

Life

After graduating from high school in Erkelenz in 1947 , he first completed an agricultural apprenticeship in Krefeld . In 1949 he began studying agriculture and law at the universities of Cologne and Bonn and in 1952 passed the examination as a graduate agricultural engineer. After the first state examination in law in 1954 and his doctorate in 1957 as Dr. jur. at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn (dissertation: The principle of choice of immediacy ) he finished his studies in 1960 with the second state examination. Spies von Büllesheim had been running the family farm since 1954 and worked as an independent lawyer from 1960 to 1997. In addition, he was a member of the supervisory board of various companies and in 1993 became chairman of the board of the General Association of German Coal Mining .
