Adolf Glatte
Adolf Glatte (born February 18, 1866 in Häslicht , Silesia , today Kostrza , Poland , † October 28, 1920 in Munich ) was a German impressionist landscape and portrait painter .
Live and act
Glatte was born in Häslicht near Striegau in Silesia. After studying and a. in Paris he settled in Munich, where he lived at 15 Hirtenstrasse.
Smooth's oeuvre owes its strongest impulses to French Impressionism , with which he came into contact during his studies in Paris, and can therefore be ascribed to Late Impressionism and Post-Impressionism . He mainly painted landscapes from the area around Munich . After 1933 he was considered a representative of modern art, which the National Socialists defamed as " degenerate art ", which is why his paintings were confiscated. Glatte was also influenced by the Munich painter Ludwig von Hagn (1820–1898).
In an article entitled “Exhibitions of the Munich 'New Secession' and the 'Jury Free'”, Oskar Doering wrote : “Adalhert Killermann, Th. Dietrich-Wrede, Josef Rolf Knobloch, Hans Heinen and Adolf Glatte proved the well-known virtues of their skilled landscape art . "
