Teaching

In his work Justification and Sanctification, Köberle emphasized the love of Christ and gratitude to God as the basic motives of Christian action - not obedience or fear. With this he developed a description of Christian existence on a biblical and Reformation basis, from which he thought through wide areas of cultural life. He also dealt critically with anthroposophy .

Köberle was considered to be a representative and sensitive interpreter of the Swabian- Pietist and Lutheran heritage. He was also a member of the Evangelical Michael Brotherhood .

In his book Die Seele des Christianentums , which appeared for the first time in 1932, his anti-Semitism and his arrogance towards the Jews were expressed, which he justified theologically.

Obituary of the Leipzig Missionary Organization

  • Adolf Köberle was one of the unforgettable witnesses of this century, which is now coming to an end, with all the ups and downs that have been personally experienced and suffered. But he remained a tireless ambassador of the Gospel until he was 92, primarily on the chair of the university, shaping many young people, but also in countless committees, back and forth in lectures and almost to the last breath by publishing many mainly pastoral accentuations Fonts. All of them had that convincing density of thinking faith and a structured, credible piety. Adolf Köberle remained impressively the same until the end ... Adolf Köberle always remained connected to the Leipzig Mission . In the last year of his life he was able to confess very directly: Oh, I often feel a longing for Leipzig, for my old friends there on the mission.
