Adolf Kleinschroth (born October 13, 1940 in Munich ; † October 21, 2000 in the Bavarian Alps ) was a German hydraulic engineer and professor at the Department of Hydraulics and Hydrology at the Technical University of Munich .

Life

In 1967 he graduated from the Technical University of Munich with a degree in civil engineering and stayed in the hydraulic laboratory for his entire career. In 1972 he received his doctorate on the subject of flow processes in the vortex fall shaft . He lectured from 1974 and was appointed full professor in 1980. He was academic director with Paul-Gerhard Franke and from 1987 with his successor Franz Valentin .

With his studies on the vortex fall shaft, he made a contribution to the development of wastewater hydraulics. In 1947 the Italian Carlo Drioli (1902-1997) proposed a vortex drop structure . Kleinschroth's doctoral thesis provided a systematic test program for this component of energy dissipation . He later extended the considerations to vortex drop with a supercritical approach flow. He then examined vortex case structures for subcritical flows, suggested an inlet geometry and developed design aids. Kleinschroth expanded their knowledge of drop structures. Kleinschroth advised the German Institute for Standardization and the ATV wastewater association .

He was killed in an accident on his bicycle.
